Motherwort was used much more 400 or 500 years ago, eg by Nicolas Culpepper and herbalists of his era. While it’s common name indicates its use for women, it’s Latin name: Cardiaca leonurus suggests its support for the heart.
Women of menopausal age have found this a useful herb to have at hand.
For a relaxing herb mix to take at bedtime, we offer Bedtime Capsules & Bedtime Tea. Try one or the other: or take 1-2 capsules together with a cup of the tea before bed.
We produce Agnus Castus Capsules and Drops and both are additive-free. Agnus castus provides great support for the precise female hormone balance the body has to maintain.
Lots of well-known people have loved this herb. Nicolas Culpeper, herbalist from the 17th century said of motherwort: “There is no better herb to drive melancholy vapours from the Heart.” I wrote a research paper on motherwort and found this great quote in an old herbal I dug out from a London library: “Drink motherwort tea and live to be a source of grief to waiting heirs”. So he seemed to think it could help you live longer!
Author Leslie Kenton author of Passage to Power: Natural Menopause Revolution says in that book the motherwort is: ‘…the most physically and psychologically comforting plant I know,’ – praise indeed.
Motherwort is a great herb, underrated. Try it if you think it might suit you – and let us know how you get on.
